Catalysing the diffusion of sustainable land management: workshop report
TMG and partners host workshop on the 'TSG' model for community-difussion of sustainable land management techniques

Together with ProSOL, a project of the GIZ, and LRIDA (Laboratoire de Recherche sur l'Innovation pour le Developpement Agricole), TMG organised a workshop on the achievements of the TSG model in upscaling sustainable land mangement (SLM), held on 18 and 19 November in Benin. Around 56 participants from Benin research institutions, development organisations and practitioners attended. Gaston Cossi Dossouhoui, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the government of Benin also attended, expressing his support for the TSG model and the use of social debt as an impetus for peer-to-peer agricultural extension services.
The Tem Sesiabun Gorado (TSG) model is a farmer-to-farmer technology diffusion model developed in Benin by TMG and ProSOL, with the support of partner NGOs on the ground. Tem Sesiabun Gorado literally means 'community-based agent of soil restoration' in Bariba, a language spoken in northern Benin. In the TSG model trained farmers are tasked with passing on information and training in SLM to other farmers, as well as following them on the ground to ensure knowledge implementation.
More information on the TSG model can be found in the technical guide and on the Soilmates website.
