Tenure security for all: the case for local and global action to advance implementation of the VGGT
A side-event to the 51st Plenary session of the Committee on World Food Security
This side-event to the 51st Plenary session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS 51) advocates for urgent action to advance tenure rights. It builds understanding of how human rights can be leveraged to improve VGGT implementation and increase accountability in land governance.
One of the speakers is Dr. Annette Mbogoh, Executive Director of Kituo Cha Sheria (Kenyan human rights NGO) and Chair of the Land State and Non-State Actors (LSNSA) network in Kenya, who coordinated a land governance assessment in Kenya, using the Human Rights 4 Land Monitoring Tool. She shows how a focus on human rights compliance in land govenrnance through systematic monitoring and policy dialogue can protect tenure rights of vulnerable and marginalized people.
This event is co-organized by FCDO, RVO, FAO, ILC, Struggles for Land Forum, DIHR, Land Portal Foundation and TMG-Research.
