Regional exchange meeting of human rights and land actors
Discussing the potential of a human rights-based approach to strengthening legitimate tenure rights
The regional exchange meeting will convene human rights and land actors to exchange experiences and discuss the potential of using human rights standards, guidance and mechanisms to strengthen responsible land governance. Participants will include representatives from National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) of Malawi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Kenya, as well as diverse civil society representatives, policy institutions and international organizations.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
Foster regional / global dialogue about the potential of using human rights to strengthen responsible land governance and the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGT)
Share the Human Rights 4 Land tools, in particular the Monitoring Tool, and discuss its use in practice
Facilitate a regional exchange between NHRIs and CSO working on land and human rights to create synergies and collaboration in the future
