Putting Land Rights at the Center of Climate Action

Join us for this webinar to hear from Indigenous leaders, land defenders and policy experts about climate solutions that boost tenure rights, livelihoods and food security, towards a vision of a COP 30 pledge to scale community-led action.

The climate transition will have a massive land footprint. Net zero goals are increasing pressure on land to meet competing demands for food production, livelihoods, conservation, and renewable energy. As a result, Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities around the globe are facing new threats to their land rights – despite clear evidence that they are the most effective stewards of the ecosystems that are essential for fighting climate change.

Why are land rights central to effective climate action? And how can Indigenous Peoples and local communities secure their rights at scale?

We’ll hear from Indigenous leaders and land defenders about community-led solutions that advance climate mitigation while promoting local livelihoods and food security. We’ll also discuss opportunities to catalyze action at scale through national policies, including agrarian reforms and tenure commitments in nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, and a new territorial and funding pledge at COP 30 for Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ land tenure rights.

Join us for a virtual discussion about land rights as a crucial link between climate action and rural development.
