Net Zero and Land Rights: How our climate goals drive land demand and shape people’s lives
Join us in Berlin to explore how the global race for net zero is reshaping land use around the world and why climate action should prioritise secure land tenure and inclusive decision-making for a truly just transition.
In collaboration with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, we're officially launching our latest publication — Net Zero and Land Rights: How our climate goals drive land demand and shape people’s lives.
Join us for this exciting event, where we’ll unpack the complex links between carbon markets, land governance and people’s rights.
Net-zero commitments and land-based climate solutions—such as afforestation and ecosystem restoration—are reshaping global land use. Carbon markets add a layer of complexity to this picture. Land-based carbon offset projects are often concentrated in regions with weak land tenure systems. This can have a profound impact on the lives and rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, as well as put ecosystems at risk.
Through storytelling, expert presentations, and a dynamic panel discussion, we will explore why carbon markets must be regulated through a human rights-based approach, as well as why climate action must prioritise secure land tenure and inclusive decision-making in order to deliver a truly just transition.
In order to attend, kindly register by 14 May 2025 through this link.
