Friends of the Marine Regions Forum: UNOC 2022 – Lunch Exchange

An informal consultation for Friends of the Marine Regions Forum

This informal exchange at the UN Ocean Conference will provide an opportunity to:

  • Highlight key challenges and opportunities for transformative change in marine regions;
  • Review progress since the launch of the Marine Regions Forum in 2017, and the first Marine Regions Forum that took place in Berlin in 2019;
  • Showcase collective achievements for ocean governance and healthy marine regions;
  • Provide an outlook on the second Marine Region Forum to be organized in 2023 in the Western Indian Ocean region, in partnership with the Nairobi Convention.

High-level statements will be made by, among others: Anders Grönvall, State Secretary of Climate and Environment, Sweden; Charlina Vitcheva, Director-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, European Commission; and Bettina Hoffmann, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, Germany.
