Land is at the heart of climate, biodiversity, and restoration efforts—yet policies advancing global goals often neglect the rights of those who live on and care for the land. As net zero and nature-based solutions accelerate land use demands, the recognition of legitimate tenure rights—especially for women and Indigenous communities—remains under-addressed.
Three interlinked dialogues focus on embedding equity and safeguards into climate and carbon market frameworks: aligning Rio Convention strategies to structurally support women’s land rights, advancing inclusive and accountable land governance for carbon mitigation in the Global South, and strengthening national processes to secure tenure in land restoration.
Through digital tools and with leadership from grassroots movements, these sessions seek to bridge global frameworks with local realities, ensuring just transitions that protect rights, promote participation, and deliver sustainable outcomes.
