Serah Wambui Kiragu-Wissler is a social scientist with extensive experience in facilitation and management of transdisciplinary research and development cooperation. She has been with TMG since January 2018, as a Research Associate responsible for leading the Kenyan package of accompanying research on Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security Project. She held the same position when the Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security Project was implemented under the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies- IASS Potsdam from May 2015 to December 2017. Before joining IASS, she worked as natural resource management specialist at the Embassy of Finland in Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a PhD in Social Geography from University of Bayreuth (2008-2013). For her dissertation, she investigated how local communities in drylands of Kenya adapt to climate variability. Between 2003 and 2008, she worked for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at the Eastern/Southern Africa Regional Office in Nairobi as Programme Officer.
