IISD releases summary report on Land-Food-Climate discussion
The Earth Negotiations Bulletin has published a report on the TMG and Robert Bosch Stiftung-hosted discussion on Climate Resilience through the Right to Food
The Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) has published a report on the recent discussion on 'Climate Resilience through the Right to Food,' part of the Land, Food, Climate co-organised by TMG and the Robert Bosch Stiftung, with the Future Africa programme of the University of Pretoria, and African Research Universities Alliance Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Food Systems. Summarising the contributions of all speakers, the report provides a useful overview of the discussion, helping to frame the key issues to be addressed at the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), and at future events in the Land, Food, Climate series.
Drawing attention to the key recommendations that emerged from the discussion, the ENB reporters noted the emphasis placed by discussants on the centrality of addressing climate change in the course of the discussions held at the upcoming UNFSS. They also highlighted the importance of the right to food as a central pillar of any discussion of food systems, as well as the need to ensure no one is left behind by international policies, which must be holistic and multi-sectoral to ensure coherence and progress towards all Sustainable Development Goals. The report can be read in full here.
