Marai works as a Research Associate for the International Climate Initiative-SDG Integration Project on Ecosystem-Based Adaptation, with a focus on Guatemala. She has gained experience in project-related, hands-on work in development cooperation and project management in Central/South America, Western Africa and Europe.
Before joining TMG-Research, she worked as development worker at the Roundtable for Poverty Reduction for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the Peruvian Andes. Here, she mainly focused on participatory monitoring processes of regional poverty indicators and gender equality issues. Also, she worked at municipal level to improve drinking water quality and services. Previously she has engaged in projects regarding rainwater harvesting and integrated water resource management.
Marai holds a Master degree in International Development and Globalization from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Her interests revolve around nature conservation, environmental awareness and civil society participation.
