Supporting the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGGT).
TMG conducted a two-and-a-half-day workshop in Berlin to further conceptualize the TG, solidify case examples and develop corresponding strategies.
The workshop was held from 8 to 10 October 2018 in Berlin at EUREF-Campus. The workshop consisted of dissecting the most recent concept note in order to jointly agree on proper structuring of and themes within the Technical Guide. Participants also reviewed a number of potential case study examples with the aim of illustrating strategies for tenure respective spatial planning.
Invited participants include land rights, land governance and spatial planning experts and activists from governments and organizations such as GTLN, the Indigenous Peoples’ Major Group for Sustainable Development, FIG Commission, civil society organizations and academia.
The workshop aims to initiate an open discussion of elements which must be considered by those mandated to develop or responsible for upholding spatial plans, as well as to guide and encourage accountability mechanisms for those whose tenure rights are affected by spatial planning operations.
